I'm happy as a clam in the sea.
I'm mighty as a big oak tree.
I'm wild like a fire so free.
I'm light like a song on the breeze.
I devised clam song at a summer solstice songshare event on June 20, 2026. It was one of the first songshares I went to and I was worried that I didn't bring a potluck dish, so during a break in the event I tried to think of a song to share instead. I wanted to make a happy song about nature as that seemed to fit the theme of things and what I wanted to contribute to the event.
I thought of the phrase "happy as a clam" and while it seemed a bit on the nose I thought I'd roll with it. Clams are naturally very water oriented and I thought I'd try to find similes that felt good and corresponded to other basic elements (oak tree for earth, fire for itself, a song on the breeze for wind (and because I like songs about songs)).
